I don't like going back to places and finding that over a year, there is zero change surprisingly, there are quite a few such restaurants about. On this occasion, I enjoyed an orate (bream) in potato. Interested, as this was the first time I'd tried it, or indeed seen it. My wife had the orate in finely chopped pistaccios (which has featured on the menu for a little time). Both were lovely pieces of fish, and served with oven potatoes not roasted, but cooked more quickly, after being thinly sliced. The pastas are always excellent here; try the large pasta (I don't recall whether it is pacceri or another very big pasta) with lobster even the memory makes me hungry for that. The only down side is that the waiting staff seem a little distracted, and it can be a job to get their attention. But when they are focused, then it is knowledgeable and helpful service. Lunch for two, with a decent bottle of wine, came to about 80 Euros.
Great place a couple of steps from the Adriatic coast. There is a nice trabocchi view across the street. Enjoyed a late lunch after visiting Lanciano. Wonderful fresh fish and wine. Practice your Italian as most of the wait staff do not speak English, but no matter. Bring your translations of fish from Italian to English or whatever might be your native language. Rombo turbot similar to flounder in New England Spigola European sea bass bronzino branzino Wonderful meal!
A regular here, despite it always requiring at least an hour's drive..... In contrast to many of the restaurants proclaiming themselves as seafood or fish restaurants in the area, Il Promontorio offers a choice of fish. Perhaps lacking in imagination, we both stayed with orato (sorry; don't know the name of the fish in English) encrusted in pistaccio. Outside Summer, I'd suggest the warm mixed antipasto; coming to a restaurant like this, don't waste your time or money on the salami/cheese.... All this washed down with a great selection of wine.
Intimate environment, in a beautiful location. simple kitchen, but with a particular attention to local products. Try.
Nice family lunch, value for money, kind staff,
