La Taberna De Gaia

Mientras viajábamos por el Camino de Santiago desde Astorga a Ponferrada, nos sorprendió encontrar este restaurante en un pueblo casi en ruinas, Foncebadón, muy cerca de la Cruz de Hierro. Aprovechando las magníficas vistas que nos ofrecían las montañas nevadas del Teleno, decidimos parar a tomar un café que resultó ser delicioso. Al entrar, nos quedamos atrapados por la magia del lugar, que tenía un ambiente entre medieval y celta. La taberna está construida con piedra y madera antigua, y el personal viste de acuerdo a la época, lo que contribuye a recrear este ambiente encantador. Las historias y leyendas ancestrales que cuenta el tabernero añaden aún más encanto al lugar. Decidimos quedarnos a comer en este peculiar sitio y no nos arrepentimos. La cocina es tradicional, con productos de calidad de la zona. Aunque la carta no es muy extensa, la calidad y el precio la hacen muy apetecible. Probamos platos como Ninfa del río, una sopa de trucha, Sortilegio de huerta con toque blanco, su crema de calabaza con queso, Doncel marino en cuna de barro, langostinos a la plancha servidos en teja árabe, y otros platos con nombres evocativos e imaginativos. Nosotros elegimos Trinchado medieval, un revuelto de verduras con huevo y churrasco de ternera sobre pan, todo regado con vino tinto. Para terminar, no pudimos resistirnos y probamos los postres caseros, Tarta de la abuela, un pastel de chocolate y galletas, y la Diosa blanca, una deliciosa tarta de queso. Según nos contó el propietario, la Taberna cierra en Navidad y abre el 1 de febrero.

Nunca habría imaginado encontrar un restaurante con ambiente y cocina medieval en Foncebadón. La comida está muy bien elaborada en un ambiente muy auténtico. Descubrí este lugar mientras hacía el Camino Francés, llegamos cansados y allí recargamos energías. Nunca olvidaré este sitio y sus alrededores.

Después de recorrer una carretera estrecha y disfrutar de paisajes extraordinarios, comimos en un restaurante decorado que nos transportó a la época medieval. La comida era excelente y a un precio muy razonable, además los dueños fueron muy amables. ¡Un 10!

I would never have imagined to find a restaurant with a medieval cuisine and an atmosphere. Well prepared food in a very successful atmosphere I discovered it by making the French way we get tired and there we recover strength. I'll never forget this place and it's everywhere.
