The waitress only spoke a little English and I only speak a little Italian, but we felt very welcomed and had a wonderful meal for a decent price. The next morning we reheated the remainder of the polenta and made a mixed grilled meat omelette for a delicious breakfast. We will definitely return to this restaurant on our next visit to Val d’Aveto.
We had the bistecca alla Fiorentina, and it was one the most flavourful pieces of meat I've ever eaten. Cooked properly over a fire, it was enjoyed with the spectacular view of the valley out the picture windows. Considering we visited during quiet season in the spring, we were very impressed.
Nice place for a lunch. Unfortunately we were a bit in a hurry so couldn't enjoy to the fullest. Prices of panini are calculated per ingredient and can get a bit steep.
What a lovely experience to be still able to experience the beautiful traditional italian dishes of a long time ago and cooked and served to perfection with the freshest and rarest of local ingredients and produce of local provenance. When in Italy i make sure to dine here at least twice and it has also become a part of my pilgrimmage when i am back in the land of my forefathers! An experience NOT to be missed! The service is impeccable and the staff are all locals of Santo Stefano and really put their heart into making sure that they deliver the dining experience of a long time ago! Well done everyone! Can't wait to be back! Grazie! Alla prossima! Marco Figlio di Gino) La Villa)
Santo Stefano d'Aveto is an anomaly in Liguria. It's in the mountains and it tends to get cool in the summer. The food is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Just go down the mountain to Chiavari or Santa Margarita and you will pay almost 50% more. Undoubtedly. The food is rustic and when I was there we were elbow to elbow. But it was nice. Very nice. I would go back in a heart beat.
