They welcome you warmly with fresh slices of homemade bread served with butter and a small dish of marinated eggplant which we enjoyed. We each had a glass of wine to start and ordered a Caesar salad to share but neither of us liked the dressing it tasted like mayonnaise and was missing the flavors of a good Caesar. The entrees made up for the salad we had chicken parm (it was a daily special the night we went) which came with a side of fettuccine with marinara and a mixed salad. We also had the cheese ravioli (pasta dough made with spinach) with fried artichokes in a creamy sauce and that was outstanding! Portions are decent; between the two meals we had enough left for a small lunch for 1. Now the dessert! We shared a slice of the house made lemon cake and if you like lemon, get this! It's more like a pie with a buttery crust and a sweet and tangy filling. Loved it! Service was good, and the lady who took care of us is one of the owners. She speaks very little English and has the most charming accent and is very kind. I didn't give 5 stars because I thought the Caesar was a miss if I could give 4.5 I would because everything else was superb.
We live in Venice island. There are several Italian restaurants in Venice and surrounding but there is no restaurant that's as good and as consistent as Tortellino Bistrot! We have tried all the dishes including the appetizers.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance! Mercia greeted us and made us feel like family. The homemade pasta was delicious. We had osso buco, ravioli, tiramisu, and torta de limón- which was out of this world!
