Nice strong espresso, amazing breakfasts, and absolutely delicious cakes and slices. Couldn’t help myself this morning. Vanilla slice, carrot cake, but that Italian jam drop is something special.
Fantastic coffee. I've tried every Cafe on the peninsula and this one has by far the best coffee. Friendly owner Tony is right, coffee elsewhere on the strip is not comparable. Food is also delicious and staff are really friendly. Great atmosphere.
I went in for scones and coffee. The owner told me he had only one scone. I said no problem. Jam and cream please. He had no cream. That was that for me so I went to leave. On my way out, he made a...point to tell me, “Don’t even think about getting coffee next door at Valori coffee shop), the coffee is better here”. Wow. I was shocked. So much for a small and close knit community, eh? Needless to say, I walked straight next door after informing him I enjoy their coffee. He lost a customer for life and that was foolish as we are new to the area, only down the road and Valori closes early so we would have gone go to his cafe later in the day. Now we go out of our way to avoid his business. As we walked past the other day we heard him trashing his neighbour’s business to more people too. I have no patience or time for people that try to succeed by tearing others down and Mr “Tony” needs to go work on a used car lot if that’s how he operates.
Basil and Co is a busy cafe with beautiful bay views. Plenty of choice made deciding on what to order , a challenge. My choice was a bagel with cream cheese ,smoked salmon , scrambled eggs and chives, hot and tasty. The apple and pear...freshly made juice was delicious. The meals are cheap and the staff very friendly. The cake cabinet is hard to resist. The lemon cheese cake and the cannoli are favourites. The coffee is very good.
While walking along the Explanade at scarborough at the weekend. Spotted this little café. Like the name. Had a quick look then moved on, but came back. Had the toasted sandwiches. (not overly hungry) Nothing fancy but very enjoyable. Husband had chips on side ..boy they were nice. We then shared to cakes. Ricotta Cannoli the Black Forest Roulade. (I was humming over this one as looked fresh but I thought be dry) Both cakes fresh as very nice. I asked if she could cut them in half for me was pleasantly suprised she put ½ on each plate. Husband also had long black coffee was happy to see crema on top, instead of been topped up with hot water. We could not fault the food or service. Glad I didn’t read the reviews on here first..!!
