What set this visit apart was that one of our party had a number of food allergies, we explained these when we booked and the team were incredibly understanding, knowledgeable about the ingredients used and went out of their way to ensure nothing would spoil the meal. This extended to purchasing specific ingredients and double checking what can and cannot be used whilst taking the order.
Highly recommended in every way. From initial booking of a large table (11) through to service on the day, great menu and drinks options (including AF) our visit was a very happy one. They even kindly gave us some butter (as the supermarket delivery missed it off) and some eye drops now that’s going above and beyond! Thank you White Horse team.
We visited the pub on Friday 23rd June on off chance of getting a table after arriving at Burnt House Farm where we were staying. We got there about 7-30 pm. The lady behind the bar was serving someone, so we waited. Upon finishing with them, she turned her back, totally ignoring us, and proceeded to do something. Eventually, after quite some time, she turned around and simply said, Yes. We asked if a table was available to which we got a simple no. We weren 't expecting a table to be available, but do expect some courtesy. We found the Lady 's attitude very rube and that made sure we didn 't book this pub for another night of our stay. A far cry from the welcoming at the Pack Horse Inn, the other pub in the village.
Several friends had recommended the White Horse Inn for food particularly steaks, but we 've never got around to it until now ..... It was my wife 's birthday she wanted to go somewhere local, but different from our usual places. It was well worth booking a table as the management like to schedule the cooking to cope with the appropriate number of diners. It 's a large pub with plenty of room outside in the gardens on a sunny day, so I imagine it could become very busy. My wife had the Cajun chicken I had the duck: this was one of the best meals I 've had for a long time washed down by a Bristol lager that I hadn 't come across before, but was allowed to sample before ordering. The crispy skin of the duck was tasty along with a great black cherry sauce super chips to soak up the sauce the meat almost fell off the bones. It 's not 'fine dining ' with table cloths, etc. but great food drink in very pleasant surroundings with friendly hosts: just the way we like it! We look forward to the next time!
Arrived without a booking and they were very busy. They still fitted us in for an evening meal with a short wait. All the staff were very friendly and very efficient. There was an excellent menu; so much choice. The steak burgers and chips were delicious, with the puddings being out of this world. Atmosphere great with a large garden outside. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back!
