And the cupcake was just perfect with real cream! They are a bit pricey but with top one quality, its worth the money!! Highly highly recommended! The whole town has a good feeling!
On our way back home, we stopped at a restaurant and decided to have pie for lunch. The customer service was excellent, and the pies looked great in the photos. However, when I received my pie, it fell apart at the bottom and the flaky pastry on top crumbled everywhere. The pie had too much gravy, making it too heavy for the pastry base, causing it to fall apart as I tried to eat it in the car before continuing our journey. I had to use my fingers to eat it all, thankfully I had a paper towel. There was hardly any cheese, it was more like a hint of flavor. My parents had different pies and sausage rolls.
Nice place to stop for a coffee or a cool drink. Some seating on the footpath, in the shade under the awning. Well positioned, in the middle of town. Some nice treats on offer. Pies and cakes . Coffee was pretty good, proud barista.
Cardwell Bakery is a must visit when in town. Be sure to arrive early before 10:00 am for the best selection of treats like chocolate cream/custard eclairs, custard slices, and apple scrolls. I also tried the chicken leek pie and blueberry apple cream turnover, both of which were delicious. Despite some confusion about the apple turnover, I found the chunks of apple to be fresh and tasty. The bakery is following COVID safety guidelines with QR tracing and limiting capacity to 4 people at a time. The service is always friendly and helpful, making it a pleasant dining experience.
We had a good variety of delicious options when we arrived at 1pm. The mini sausage rolls were priced at $2 each and were decent, but lacked any distinct flavor. One friend enjoyed the salmon prawn pie, while another found the plain pie to have chewy meat and didn't finish it. The lamington was tasty though! Unfortunately, Google Pay with Amex did not work here, despite the terminal displaying an Amex logo. However, using a physical Amex card might still be acceptable. Overall, we would rate this restaurant 4 out of 5.
