Nice however the rolls were a little bland and the spicy tuna nacho was expensive with how boring the dish was. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Roll
So. I didn’t want to believe it because we used to love going to Jo:a. But it’s true. It has gone downhill. Say goodbye to traditional Japanese food! Say hello to some standards and kimchi fries. And Jalapeño poppers. What? Went with my wife and daughter and waited a while after being seated on a not busy Tuesday evening. Okay. I can deal with that. Daughter got pork katsu kids bento which was the highlight. Wife ordered Udon and a roll. I ordered the chirashi and ama ebi (sweet shrimp). Waited again for a longer time than I would expect. Finally food started to come out. Daughter’s katsu and wife’s udon came out. Fortunately we had them start eating because i would be waiting a while. Again the katsu was nice, and I thought, maybe the bad reviews were just too critical. But I tried my wife’s udon and thought “well, that’s not great.” Broth was salty. I constantly have to tell her to go easy on the salt, and SHE thought it was too salty. The noodles were clearly overcooked. Not as springy as they should be. They were almost halfway done when my ama ebi arrived. I ate it, and waited. The shrimp was good, the rice, I wasn’t convinced about. Then when they were over halfway done, my chirashi arrived. I wish it hadn’t. The bowl was too small, which is a minor nit, but it makes things hard to eat. The leaves typically used to separate things were replaced with orange and lemon? I didn’t understand it at first, but I get it now. It was there to cover up the fish. The fish was fishy. Some of it a little slimy. The fatty tuna had gristle in it and was discolored. The fish and seaweed salad were VERY cold. They had the feel, temp, and texture of something that has been sitting in the back of a fridge all day. The rice was cold, dry, and unseasoned. The entire thing was a mess. I tasted bad fish for an hour after trying this. Don’t do it. Just don’t. Go anywhere else. I have had better grocery store sushi in North Dakota. Pray for me. I hope it stays down.
I got more than the sake cocktail! I can’t seem to access my full photo library for some reason. The food is excellent and they always seem to be able to accommodate MANY diners. I rotate between the giant bowl of udon soup and their signature veggie roll. My hubby enjoys the sushi. It’s trusty. The tofu used for the bento box is nothing special. Recommend skipping that. Delicious sushi and great staff! We wanted saki but weren’t sure what to get. One of the waiters came over to give us a rundown of the saki menu, that he created. Service: Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
