I took the rest home and had enough left over to have another full meal later that day. The cafe was clean with a welcoming environment. Different age ranges where there and there was nice light jazz music playing in the background that set a wonderful ambiance. My waiter was super nice and I didn't feel rushed at all the quickly eat and pay which is starting to feel like the norm in Boston restaurants. Can't go wrong with choosing this place!
Ball Square Cafe is a gem. It was my first time visiting with a friend, and we had a nice time. The cafe is clean and no frills, which is a great thing. I enjoyed the jazz music playing, which made for just the right ambiance to relax and dig in to the many breakfast/lunch items on the menu. I ordered a made to order omelette with the house fries such a generous portion! What made the omelette was that it wasn’t dry or flat like in most places; it was fluffy and light and had just the right balance of ingredients. Staff was friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to return to try other menu items.
Went in this morning alone, attempting to have dine-in breakfast. I was told to take a small table and no one ever came over and spoke to me. Several other parties were seated and their orders taken, including the table seated next to me... I was never acknowledged. After about 10 minutes I got up and walked out, no one even acknowledged me.I guess the lack of competition from next door has really affected the level of service at Ball Square.
Mike has really made this place his own and it's now a staple of the neighborhood. Shout out to Soundbites which paved the way.
Menu didn't have as many breakfast combos as I would like, but the French toast I did get was excellent. UPDATE I returned to this place and ordered plain pancakes, if you order pancakes in a restaurant and pay money for them, they should be- blow your mind amazing. They were not.
