We arrived just before lunch service ended, but they graciously sat us. Our waitperson, Juan, was timely, gracious and very professional. The two salads we ordered — salmon Nicoise and sesame tuna — were both perfect. Both were beautifully presented, had excellent flavors and the fish were expertly prepared. Highly recommended.
My son loves beef he'd eat it for every meal. While I was with him in Boston, I wanted to find a good American steak house. This was a great choice. Food excellent, service incredibly warm and well paced. We had a great evening. Of course, it comes at a price, but nothing particularly unusual compared to competitors. The portions were extremely large which is a shame I hate wasting food and like to have a variety of sides. Each is enough for 4 people which makes it expensive/wasteful if you are just 2 people.
Mooo, a whimsically named restaurant, is a Beacon Hill Boston steakhouse located within the luxurious XV Beacon Hill hotel. The Mooo serves up stellar decor as well as culinary creativity with the likes of: Roasted Bone Marrow, Prime Ribeye, Prime NY Sirloin, Faroe Island Salmon, a $190 Japanese Wagyu Sirloin and other meatier items. I relished a trio of Maine Lobster Bisque, Prime Sirloin Carpaccio and Creme Brulee for my sweet tooth............what a delicious combination. The Mooo, with it's warm inviting decor, provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience.
As much as we wanted to love this place, we just didn’t. We went on July 7, 2024 for our anniversary. It started excellent. We got the oysters and wagyu dumplings. Both were excellent as were our drinks. But then it started going downhill. The caesar salad was okay. Then the steaks, which I expected to be phenomenal. It was far from it. The waiter stated they’ve been told the beef wellington is better than Gordon Ramsay’s. I’ve had both and Mooo’s wellington is no where in the same universe as Ramsay’s. My wife’s filet was one of the toughest filets ever. We then got the cookies and milk which are highly recommended. Ours were burnt on the outside and tasted like basic grocery store cookies. The food overall was about a 5/10 but considering the bill was $400, it goes even lower. Overall experience 3.5/10. It was on par with a restaurant that would have been $80-100, not 4x that. I’ve been to many high end steakhouses, this was in the bottom 3 for sure…
