We had a spontaneous early-ish supper. Everything was fresh, well prepared and delicious. The drinks were lovely too, especially the non alcoholic. Good quality offerings which is quite unusual. They have a short menu, which is often a good sign. I had the sea bream,it was perfect, fresh and well cooked. Excellent service, plenty of space, different zones for different ambiances, a lovely outside space by the river, which at night and in winter we couldn't make use of, but we plan to be back. A lovely experience.
What a great find. Went here after reading reviews. Lovely old pub with roaring fire. Very welcoming staff. Sat on comfy couch by the fire then was offered table 20 also near the fire in the bar area. Didn’t feel rushed but attentive staff. Delicious haddock in batter. Lovely franzipan tart. The restaurant overlooks the river and was nice and warm also if you prefer that area. Pub has not been spoiled by modernisation. Highly recommend.
We arrived at the pub following a long trip down from London, looking forward to a few days away. When we went to check in there was absolutely no where to park and after asking some of the bar staff for some advice they were not really bothered. We then asked if we could check in and the response was almost well you will have to wait because we are far too busy We asked if we could order a sandwich and we were told that they could not provide sandwiches as they were a chef down. In the end we just left and went to buy a sandwich elsewhere. The attitude of the staff completely spoiled our break. We were so upset by it that we did not spend any time in the bar or the restaurant throughout the whole of our stay. We understand that it was clearly a busy time but there was no excuse for their rudeness. The only saving grace was that the bedroom was nice and well appointed with a lovely view of the river. What should and could have been a nice break was spoiled because of poor customer service.
The Inn was very welcoming. We sat in the conservatory. It was a Sunday, so naturally, it was very busy. We booked for 1.30pm, and we were seated and served our drinks very quickly. Unfortunately, things went a little awry with our order, as it was served to another table. This resulted in a substantial delay in getting our food. The food, roast dinners, and a lovely assortment of fresh vegetables was well worth the wait, and the complimentary drinks were much appreciated. I would highly recommend visiting this place and would definitely eat there again.
