The southern fried chicken was like a bullet on the outside, the crispy coating was armoured. The chicken inside though was amazingly juicy and tender and the spices were flavorful. The battered fish looked like part of it had lost a battle against a blow torch Burger was tasty but with a light coating of burn. Shouldn't have been issues with food as we were the only ones eating so kitchen wasn't rushed. Given great staff, timely arrival of food and good ale (latte tasted like it used UHT milk though) and fair pricing we'd give it another go at a later date and hope the food is better.
I always look forward to visiting the New inn, the service is always exexcellent food and tas is the food and drink, And Terry is a great and funny host.
The lamb lunch was absolutely fantastic. Spot on. Very polite and courteous staff. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. Yummy
Was passing by, and saw the New Inn. Had a great lunchtime light bites and really good ales on the bar. Service was outstanding, and the pub is situated in a great spot for the broads, and taking in the scenery of the moorings. Fantastic find.
I've had the Wednesday fish and chips takeaway from The New Inn here at Rockland St Mary 2 week's running and I think that it is fantastic! I pre order, and collect at the agreed time, and its perfectly cooked in homemade beer batter and comes with a choice of chips or fries, garden or mushy peas, and tartare sauce. Gluten free batter is also available. It's a warm and wonderful environment to collect from, and you can keep dry even if it's raining! Wednesday fish and chips takeaway or eat in is every Wednesday 6pm 9pm. It's delicious, and now the Wed fish van has retired I can still get my fish fix.
