I've been here a handful of times over the last few years. It's been going down hill at a steady rate. This time we ordered avocado breakfast dish which had eggs, the eggs were undercooked to the point that the egg white parts were still raw. Looked like mucus. Also had a Acai bowl which was very average. For the same price I'm used to getting something with much better presentation and taste. When you compare the prices at this place versus a good quality cafe, the prices are at least 20% too high. I will not be coming back anymore. It's really poor food, high priced and the staff service isn't great either. Oh and the coffee was nothing special either.
I visit the The Ferry Road Markets most weeks and have avoided Spendelove based on what I have observed and then heard; however I decided to try them for myself despite the warnings. What a mistake.I was merely waiting for my car to be serviced across the road, it was early, so I wanted to sit in the sun enjoying a coffee.. potentially some food. I found a seat for myself in the sun (is one supposed to wait to be seated?) .. eventually a waiter swanned by to give me the menu and ask if I wanted a coffee. Said coffee arrived, and I was left to my own devices working on my phone. I have seen many wait staff dressed in the uniform but I do wonder what they do with themselves and how they manage to disappear from sight for the most part. It really is quite remarkable. A group of four sat next to me obviously here for a catchup and breakfast. After approx 15 minutes they were verbally annoyed noone had served them! One of them went hunting for the wait staff to take their order!! LOL personally I would have left and gone to Providores right next door who serve and provide food- isn't that what a restaurant is supposed to do?! As noone had approached me since delivering the coffee I hailed a rare waiter to ask for some bottled water. Mama mia- when I was delivered the bill I almost fell off my chair in shock/amazement/bewilderment...what was it? This sparkling mineral water, served in an unmarked bottle was ONLY $11.00 for 750 MLs! Lord almighty. Was it laced with gold? My suspicion is that it is carbonated water from a fridge!! Disgusting. Why Gold Coasters frequent this overpriced, snooty establishment is beyond me. Service is out -of- this -world below average when you can find them, and I really feel obliged to remind these employees that they are employed to do a job.. it is called SERVE. Is the proprietor of this establishment aware of the shocking behaviour that takes place here? They are here to serve US.As for the price of water... give me a break. Vote with your money and DONT come here. At the Ferry Road Markets, one has quite a selection to choose from when opting to dine or drink tea/coffee/smoothies. Go elsewhere!!! Save yourselves.
We were in for a quick breakfast, the eggs were served with the whites not fully cooked and the coffee wasn't great. The woman at the counter wasn't very welcoming but the table staff were friendly. Food did come out quickly but maybe a little too quickly.
3 years ago, this was my favourite place on the GC. I returned, hoping it was the same. Sadly not. The service was slow and barely friendly. The cheese soufflé, although still good, was no longer amazing. The hollandaise on the Benedict looked like bottled variety. Really sad.
