I had it with Singapore rice. No fault to be found with any thing and the waitress was very pleasant. So nice to be living across the road as well,
It’s a little gem u don’t want the hassle of china town come hear lovely seafood and staff so friendly and welcoming lovely lady called Lan was very beautiful exceptional service
I had a takeaway from 148 (previously called Mr Liu's . This was my first time ordering so I can't compare it to the food before the recent refurb. As you can probably tell from the menu, this is your typical Chinese takeaway place we had the won ton soup, crispy aromatic duck, crispy seafood noodles and sweet and sour pork. Don't expect anything truly authentic or original this just isn't that kind of place. That being said, we were pleasantly surprised. The food arrived within an hour, it was still hot and it was neatly packaged (not leaking, upside down etc... . The food was decent quality. The crispy noodles had gone a bit soggy, but I guess thats to be expected with a take away. It was still nice. Everything else was as expected. This is the best Chinese takeaway of the handful I've tried in the area and I will probably order from there again.
We ate in thinking it was new, its not, they 've tried tried to re-brand as 148 Chinese, a dim sum restaurant, nothing has changed it 's still Mr Liu 's, even the receipt says so! There is a small dim sum section, stating 'hand made ', they were dense but at least tasty Starters were dry, chewy, and too hot, classically just bunged in the microwave to be re-heated The mains were as per their takeaway. The prawns in batter, were the highlight, if you can call it that, as they were at least crispy, unlike when you get a delivery and they are soggy. Still waiting for a decent Chinese takeaway to open in the area
We ordered a delivery with 4 beers, but when it arrived there were only two beers. The delivery guy said he would bring two more. However he rang the restaurant and they refused to do that. In the end I refused the order. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner and she repeatedly said that we had only order two beers. I had clearly heard my wife ask for four. The owner handled this very badly. We eat there regularly and I told her that mistakes happen, but I wanted the order to be correct. She then said well this is just “he said she said”. Out of principle I refused the order, and they have lost a customer. Now we are hungry and will have to wait an hour ordering elsewhere, but service like this is unacceptable.
