We live close- by, so we frequently go to this restaurant. Our second last experience was on a Sunday evening. The food served, were the remnants of the day's yam cha. when we complained the waiter without fuss took it away and replaced it with fresh food. Our second and last visit was on sunday 11/8 to fairwell our parents who are going overseas. What a disappointment this was. The food was starchy, stodgy and tasteless. The garlic in the chicken was from a jar and overbearing. In all it has put me off Chinese food all together forever. Do yourselves a favour and try another.
Thought we would try again. Food even worse. Shredded beef was as hard as rocks. Not sure how many times it was deep fried. Very shabby now. It does not look like it has been refurbished snce the late eighties when we first went there.Very expensive. Much better restaurants in Adelaide than this one. It is a pity because they do have a very varied and different menu. They need to try harder and deliver the quality of the food at the price it is charged.
This restaurant in Adelaide used to be one of the top Chinese restaurants, but that is no longer the case. The food was average, but the private room we were seated in, as well as the main dining area, are in desperate need of a renovation in my opinion.
The Imperial Peking is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Adelaide and it serves my favourite dish - their satay beef. It ispresented in a flaming foil wrap - quite unique and highly flavoured. We also enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken. The banquet menus look goo too. My only criticism is that the wait staff seem to focus their attention on their Asian clients first.
