Homemade and made with care I love how we have such a great place in such a small town, and I don't have to travel far to get it! Thank you for bringing such good quality food to such a small town!
We are on a 2 week New England tour. Rule #1: No chain restaurants! We got on yelp to find a non chain around us. It was a Monday and everything along Route 1 was closed, except for this place so we decided to go off the beaten path and give it a try! We loved it and was well worth the stop! The waitress was super friendly and so was the local guy hanging out at the bar. We stayed after we paid just to get some travel advice and hear some local stories from the 2. We had a great time. We ordered thin crust Hawaiian pizza to share. We loved it. The restaurant/bar has an at home feel. No matter what table you choose you will feel like you are sitting at your mom's or granny's kitchen! I would definitely give this place a try!
Great find! New place.. Not everyone has a reason to pull off the road to this hidden coastal town, but I can certainly recommend doing so if you want to check out a very worthwhile dining destination not mobbed by tourists or strictly centered around a deep fryer. Town Hall Mercantile Pub is great little place for pizza, fresh, homemade food (try the chile and cornbread), or sampling a good selection of microbrews. Friendly and cute enough place to take the kids for a pizza or for picking up an easy homemade meal for the camp or an afternoon picnic. They also carry some really high quality, grass fed, meats for your next BBQ for very reasonable prices. I picked up some baby back ribs and they were excellent. Next time you're on route 1, I'd say just stop here for an easy beer and bite instead of going all the way to Bucksport or Searsport. Mercantile is a wonderful addition to this rugged, revitalizing side of Penobscot Bay..Put it on your list.
