Friday street is a popular place for a cuppa and cake, or a meal and I 've had many pleasant visits, but today's was a complete farewell. I came to the end of the breakfast menu, was said that it no longer served breakfast. (no problem, despite arriving at 11.20 o'clock) I was shown to a table, a menu handed out and left to sit and wait. and wait. 45 minutes later, a coworker approached and asked if I had ordered that I answered no, and I said that I would sit for 45 minutes. I was told that due to personal shortages are now placed to the theke. in previous visits the employees have always taken the order on the table, but nothing has been said by this process change at the time of sitting, although above the counter a small sign is displayed (excellent consultation and a note in the menu could be a good idea). So I was told that the personal member would make a withdrawal and take my order, but low and see the article I wanted from the menu was not made today, I went, but at least I warmed up and had a chance to pick up some emails! a very disappointing experience from somewhere that was former top notch. the evaluation is for customer service and not for eating.
What a big farm shop, a good selection of food, but a visit to her cheese room is a must! beautiful selection and the baron bigod braut were some of the best we have tried. also has a fish merchant who smokes their own products. do not miss this place when they are in the snap area.
Having recently moved to wonderful Aldeburgh we sometimes drive past here and it was on our list to support local businesses, so on our way home thought we’d call in for lunch and soon wished we hadn’t bothered. We were unceremoniously shown to a table...by a mature woman with a dark ponytail who I can only describe as having a permanent scowl. We ordered two coffees and something to eat and the young man who brought the coffees was very pleasant indeed. Coffee was nice as was the food but when you are being served by someone with zero customer service skills and a face like a slapped backside who looks like they really do not want to be there it puts you off ever wanting to return. Such a shame as otherwise it’s a nice little place. My advice would be if you dislike your customers so much it shows…….find another job! Aldeburgh has so many lovely eateries to choose from who welcome you warmly with open arms and are genuinely friendly and don’t treat you like you are an inconvenience! It makes all the difference when you are out spending your hard earned. I see from the negative reviews I’m not the only one who feels this way, It’s a shame and imo not fair on the rest of you who do give service with a smile.
We enjoyed another lovely breakfast at Friday Street recently. The small Suffolk breakfast is excellent value for money at £7.75, even with a 20-minute wait, which is worth it when it’s cooked to order. The coffee was also piping hot, which I believe it always...should be. Service is very attentive and friendly. We will be back (again)!
