The eggplant pickle is the best accompaniment to the beautiful curries- and from the first bite I was transported back to Sri Lanka! Thank you again!
My husband I had a trip planned for Sri Lanka (not anymore due to the corona virus . We had a real craving to try Kottu after the many travel videos we have watched! <br/ <br/ We researched utilising Zomato and we loved the look of the menu and also the reviews for Hop Spice so off we ventured! <br/ <br/ As soon as we walked in we knew we were in the right place with many Sri Lankan’s dining in. <br/ <br/ The service was incredible and the owner helped to walk us through the menu as un-experienced eaters of Sri Lankan Food. <br/ On the weekend we were also lucky enough to order Hoppers which was super exciting! <br/ <br/ The food was served quickly, large servings and service with a smile! <br/ The flavours of the food was absolutely mouth watering and delicious! <br/ We can’t wait to return and try the remainder of the menu! <br/ <br/ We also really liked getting to know the workers, where they are from in Sri Lanka and experiencing Sri Lankan Hospitality! <br/ <br/ What we ordered <br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ : Kottu Roti with Chicken <br/ : Lump Raise with Beef<br/ : Plain Hopper <br/ : Egg Hopper <br/ : Coconut Roti <br/ : Egg Roll <br/ : Fish Roll<br/ <br/ Follow @melbournecultureeats on Facebook and Instagram for more culture eats around Melbourne.
Make sure you stop over when passing along the busy Ballarat road for some delicious Sri Lankan food. So glad we tried the food here as the restaurant was recommended to us by our Sri Lankan friend so it had to be good.<br/ <br/ It wasn't busy in our last 2 visits so the staff was mostly around at the back but when they do take our orders and serve the food, the staff was friendly and welcoming.<br/ <br/ We really enjoyed our meal as the food was flavourful and nice and spicy. Each dish also comes in big serves and reasonably priced.
Hop and Spice is all about respecting authentic and rustic flavours from Sri Lanka and the results speak for themselves with crowds continuing to devour Hop and Spice's authentic cuisine almost a decade on.<br/ <br/ The extensive menu features Sri Lankan favourites such as string hoppers along with other exotic dishes you will not get anywhere else. <br/ <br/ We loved tasting our way through the menu. The Kottu roti was a winner. Roti prata had been sliced into shreds and stir fried with vegetables, onions, eggs, pulled chicken and lots of aromatic spices. A popular Sri Lankan street food, this dish was wonderfully flavoursome and seriously addictive.
This is the best Sri Lankan restaurant I've ever visited. The food was absolutely wonderful. I tried nearly every dish with my family and it was all delicious. The customer service was fantastic as well.
