Both served with a large fermented flatbread: injeera. The bread is a sourdough and taste slightly lemony. The stew was a tomato based stew with spices and was really savoury. The special ibex taste a lot like woody herbs and tangy so if you like a deep herbs, tangy flavours than you would enjoy the special. Cooking time was slow but food was made fresh to order. So be patient, the lovely waitress who is also the chef will prepare them for you. Won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend if you haven’t tried Ethiopian before. Also recommend seating yourself upstairs during the day where the top level is well lit and downstairs during the evening where the dimness isn’t offputting.
Walked in and there was something beautiful smoking in the front dining area, it was lovely. The waitress was so nice and friendly. I order the Ibex Special 1 which had a 3 dishes, a mixed greens dish with warmed spiced butter, homemade cheese and kitfo served rare. The cheese was lovely and crumbly and a little bit salty, the greens were well seasoned and salty as well but the saltiness really worked and the kitfo was so tender and flavoursome I couldn't stop eating it. It only cost me $15 as well! It was one of the most filling lunches I've ever had and also one of the most affordable as well. Cannot fault it in any way. I will definitely be back before I move.
Vegans rejoice! They serve up some delicious and hearty vegan dishes. The waitress was so friendly and advised that they can make many of their vegetarian dishes vegan easily. Well priced and yummy!
Came here for dinner on Hampshire Road, after previously going to there shop when it was on Clarke Road (now the cafe pool hall). Four of us went to dinner and ordered various dishes, walking out (i mean rolling out) and the total for 4 adults was just under $65 we had too much food and towards the end were eating because we didnt want to waste it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a African Restaurant to try, will not disappoint
