Lamp Post Inn - Sussex

This place could definitely use a facelift in terms of decor. Carpet is very worn and stained, the wallpaper, tables and chairs are all dated in the dining room and it definitely shows. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, but the food is generic. There's nothing that makes this place truly stand out from other restaurants in the area. I would advise against ordering the NY Strip because when I ordered it, it looked like it was cut in half length-wise, but I definitely paid what I would for a full steak. I was a little taken aback by the size. The seasoning on the steak was lackluster and the shrimp I got on top were undercooked. I've also had the salmon here as well as the eggplant parmesan and both were very basic, nothing to write home about. If this place got a makeover, including their menu, I would frequent again and often, but until then, I'm going to go where I know I get full portions busting with flavor.

The place was not that busy. We could have had better service. At one point. She even said she wasn't charging me for refills and charged me for a refill. We waited quite a while to get our check to the point my dad had to wait by the kitchen door for somebody to come out. They like come out of the kitchen and go right into that bar area instead of checking on anybody. As soon as the food came out within 2 minutes somebody asked how things were and then never checked on us again until we needed the check. Food was good. Not sure that we will go back because better service elsewhere

The Lampost Inn was like waking into the past and getting a taste of old school cool The vibe is that of an older ski lodge that serves delicious food. This place feels and tastes like history in all the best ways. I recommend the prime rib. It was delicious.

Came in yesterday around 6:30. Waited for over 20 minutes and all that happened was a waitress brought over papers for under our dishes, said she'd be right back, and never came back. Took about 10 minutes just to get those environmentally wasteful table settings. Many employees looked at me and never helped. I have pink hair, I'm pretty hard to miss. They made a point to be unprofessionally helpful and could not have made a worse impression. Do yourself a favor and keep looking — this place is full of disappointment.

Very much enjoyed the food, service gathering we had Owner extremely nice kanny.
