We had a great time at the Abbaye de Talloires thanks to the Gastronomy Spa offer. 6-course dinner at the gourmet restaurant: The staff is welcoming and the menu is qualitative. The wine selection is sophisticated. We accompanied our dinner with an excellent bottle recommended by the sommelier. The portions are generous, we refused the sweets at the end of the meal because we were no longer hungry. Night at the Abbey: We were upgraded to a superior room. The decoration of the room is nothing exceptional. On the other hand, the bathroom with its old bathtub and its decoration is charming. The bedding is comfortable. Duo massage access to the spa: The massage was amazing and the spa very nice. Privileged lakeside location with a beautiful view even in rainy weather. Very nice discovery! 5 stars, no more? Where to start, first experience on November 1, 2022 and here we are finishing the second, November 1, 2023, i.e. 1 year after the first. The abbey is a breathtaking place! I can 't understand some of the unacceptable comments from some customers! Notably one, stipulating the “Groupon” offer, our two experiences were Groupon offers! We requested an upgrade (because of off-peak periods) and both times the staff responded to our request, all the staff at the establishment more than lived up to the expectations of this place. Discretion, friendliness, seriousness and impeccable know-how of a 4-star establishment, taking care of each of your requests! The rooms, the first one we had (period parquet floors, exposed beams, window overlooking the lake with undeniable charm, immaculately clean). The second? Breathtaking, one of the last ones they have created (more modern, less authentic of this place, but done with taste and refinement, perfect bedding, grandiose bathroom). I have to measure my praise, because I try to keep this nugget and not make it known too much for fear that there will be too many people. The spa and the staff are very good and the treatments are also extremely charming! The bar and its bartender, you should not miss it... cocktail lover? Let us guide you to once again live a rare experience! The breakfast could be slightly improved to be on par with everything else, although everything is of good quality and excellent! little extra fresh fruit salad? Come on, it 's possible, because you want to be excellent and it 's deserved! 1 night the first time and a taste of sadness because too little, 2 night this time, and already nostalgic. IF there are 3 or 4 of you and you want to share a so-called 'Suite ', avoid room number 6!! Sold at the price of a so-called luxurious suite (because it has a view of the hotel parking lot and the lake behind , it is absolutely not at the level of service expected for a hotel of this level: The '2nd bedroom ' is actually made up of a sofa bed located IN THE BATHROOM! So no privacy, and the occupants of the master bedroom must pass in front of you to go to the toilet, and shower in front of your eyes... or go to the toilet located in the corridor of the hotel... Judge for yourself- even in the attached photos. It was by far the most expensive night of my life in a bathroom sofa bed!! And if you have the misfortune to report it to the hotel reception manager, don 't expect any compassion, any listening (her response: it 's not up to you to judge the categorization of the rooms , ...and of course no commercial understanding.
