The service was friendly, efficient (and unobtrusive when it should be!) and the food was well cooked and presented. As with most winery restaurants, the surroundings were peaceful and easy on the eye.
We live locally and have eaten here a cpl times. The setting and the views are divine. The food has always been well presented and of good flavours and cooked perfectly. The staff are always friendly but sometimes the service can be a little slack. Lovely place and we always walk away satisfied
One of the most relaxing, comfortable and most beautiful places to enjoy with the people you love! The food was amazing! The staff are wonderful! Would 100% recommend this place to everyone. Will definately be coming back again very soon :) Thank you Albert River Winery for an absolutely awesome experience!
We had my mums surprise 60th birthday on a saturday at Albert River Winery. I cannot commend the staff enough for how wonderful the day turned out. The staff were very accomodating and communicated with us on the details leading up to the day. We were allowed to decorate the area which made it extra special. The food was absolutly exceptional value for money and delicious. We chose a set menu consisting of an entree and main. Even though we had a party of 25, the food was brought out quickly and without any troubles whatsoever. Every single person in our group was more than happy with the taste, quality and size of the meals. I usually eat my whole meal but I couldn't finish it. Like I said, great value for money with the $35 two course set menu. The setting and atmosphere is also lovley and peaceful. We sat out on the deck overlooking the grounds. I would not hesitate to return or recommend Albert River Winery to friends and family.
We arrived for lunch at 12.30 on Sunday and it was a busy day. The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere was great, there was a guy playing a guitar who was very good but a bit too loud to make conversation easy. We ordered some drinks which I remember thinking were a little slow but nothing major. We then ordered garlic bread and a trio of dips. That took quite a while too but again, by this stage I wasn't paying too much attention so wasn't worried. At 1.45 we had to go ask for someone to come and take our order. 15 minutes later I had to stop a waitress as she walked past our table and ask again. She came over and apologised for for not getting to us and said that the ovens were full anyway so even if she had of taken our order earlier we wouldn't have any food. An hour later our first entrees came out. We went with a set menu. I had the calamari which was supposed to have a light panko crust. It was nice but not what I was expecting. It was definitely not a light crumb, it was like the frozen crumbed ones you can buy at woollies and deep fry at home. The sauce was good and it came with a nice salad. There were 3 or 4 bits of calamari. By this stage I would have eaten 40 of them, we were so hungry!! Other people got the pork belly which looked very small but everyone enjoyed. Another person ordered soup which I thought looked more like a spread, it was so thick. I think she enjoyed it. A number of people ordered the barramundi for a main and everyone complained that they didn't have the lemon butter sauce. The waitress said she'd get the chef to make some and she'd bring it out for us. She eventually brought out about a thimble full and told us to use it sparingly. Like we had a choice!! This tiny portion was supposed to be enough for 6 of us. Most of us didn't bother and just went without making the meal a bit dry. There was talk of sending them back but we were worried that it'd be another couple of hours before we got more!! The fish was cooked well but the crust on top didn't do it any favours without a sauce. The sweet potato chips were nice! The rest of the table ordered the chicken and everyone said it was cold. The fish was nice and hot so I imagine they had the chicken ready and waiting for the fish. Only a few people ordered dessert and no one commented on it so I guess it was ok but nothing special. Overall, the service on the day really let the place down. The meals weren't amazing but they also weren't terrible but 3 and a half hours from start to finish was just too much. And to not have any meals delivered until 3 pm left us all hungry, annoyed and on our way to cranky. The looks on the faces of the people around us made me think we weren't the only ones. We didn't even get asked if we wanted drinks, we ended up going to the bar and getting them ourselves. Twice I asked for more water for the table. When we sat down we had 3 bottles on the table but when I asked for more they only brought one for all 10 of us. And even that took a long time to come out!! I live in Tamborine but have only been once before as I don't often have time to go out for lunch. If people ask me where to go when they are here, I wouldn't recommend this place.
