Located just across the river from the main touristy shopping district in Tarpon Springs, Captain Jack's is offers generally good food in a casual outdoor atmosphere. Entering through the parking lot, there are photo ops with a huge shark and a 5 foot lobster. A little further brings you to the tiki bar and huge open-air dining room overlooking a marina and Dodecanese Blvd.<br/ <br/ We've only been for lunch. They weren't busy today, and our service was good. Pleasant waitresses and waiters were in abundance, but not hovering.<br/ <br/ I can personally recommend their burgers. They're big and juicy. Also, the quesadilla was filled with big chunks of blackened chicken and fresh tomatoes with sides of smooth guacamole and sour cream. The grilled shrimp and scallops offer a welcome change from all the fried foods available everywhere. But, not to go overboard on health food, get the onion rings... and the homemade potato chips. Both are excellent. I recommend a pass on the rib eye steak sandwich, though. The meat was fatty and gristly and thrown onto a soggy roll. Served in a plastic basket under my mountain of onion rings, it was next to impossible to complete the trimming that should have been done in the kitchen.<br/ <br/ But, it wasn't so bad that I won't be back. The ambience and generally good food make up for one questionable entrée.
Captain Jacks. We are regulars at Capt. Jacks on a Friday evening after work and we usually have a crowd with us, but it seems like we are always looking for a sever and waiting on our liquid beverages, also beers should be keep on ice because you are so busy and with those refrigerators always opening and closing the beer just does not get cold enough and on a really hot night it's warm in 15 minutes. We have also tried eating at 11pm and have been told the kitchen is closing, not good when you have been drinking and need something in your stomach. Matt is great daquari maker, Tim, Mngr. and of course Mike the owner are awsome. The female Mngr. needs to get the chip off her shoulder. And Capt. Jack the kitty is a touch and I hope no one ruins that !! Food is great we go for lunch on Saturday and your new menu has a great selection. Thanks, See ya next Friday
Beautiful atmosphere with almost service. my Mahi sandwich was delicious. would definitely come back when I'm over. the men's rooms were surprisingly clean.
First time visit for 5 of us.. Hubby got the fish and chips and I got the grouper tacos which comes with rice and beans.. both were very delicious. 1 person got the taco salad which you have to pay to add the meat to. ? It was huge and looked good but he wasn't impressed with it. Another person got steak tacos and enjoyed. Last person got a sandwich with the homemade chips which she said were greasy. We had an appetizer of fried calamari which was yummy. 2 sodas, 1 non-alcoholic drink from the bar, and 1 shot of whiskey. The bill was 120 before tip. Live music downstairs with outside seating.. We ended up eating inside upstairs because there was 5 of us and a long wait. Overall a decent experience and I would eat here again.
Loved this Tiki Bar , the waitress was super cute, was not bothered in ever other minutes like in many other places. And especially when your eating, your mouth is full, and they come.. “ how’s your food?”??Yes so very cool atmosphere, and yes, the food, I asked the waitress how good is the Grouper Taco, and with sparkling eyes she said, “ You Gonna Love it!!” So yes indeed she was absolutely right! All together was perfect, the seasoning, the way the grouper was made. Taco Perfection. If you like nice people around you, welcoming people, like good quality food, yes, Make sure visit this place.
