Music , Food, Dining with family Always a memorable moment.
Went for a B Day celebration. Brought a special bottle of wine. Everything was fabulous until the check came with a $50 corkage fee. I went on line before going and saw $35. The waitress went to management and came back to discuss; refused to adjust the bill....a $15 dispute on a $225 tab. Management blew it and lost a customer......
Mastro's offers a traditional steakhouse experience. Came here for an event with a pre planned menu. Service is great food is pretty underwhelming. The appetizers were the best part. Steak was cooked perfectly but packed flavor and was a mediocre filet mignon. Interior atmosphere is pretty dated. Prices aren't unreasonable but you could do better for the price. Overall just an ok option if you absolutely must be at a traditional steakhouse.
I 3 starred atmosphere for the following reason: This is ranked most romantic restaurant in Thousand Oaks. When we were seated, I felt like I was in a night club. Please please PLEASE move your music choices down tempo. Sade, Joss Stone, Tracy Chapman, love songs, this is not a dance club. And you can even turn the volume down a few decibels. Everything else was 5 star, including the absolutely delicious food and wine. Austin Hope, Cabernet. Must try!!!
