Contribuer aux commentairesWe had dinner on a Friday Due to the location and like all restaurants in the neighborhood it is mainly a touristic place with average food. The plus: The location, we had a table outside facing the river and the wooden bridge, The minus: Food was average. Service is quite basic.
I was amazed by the service, quality of the food and location. I requested for a special 3 course meal and the chef delivered exceptionally. If you want a romantic dinner for two, this is the place. Enjoy the Ricotta Ravioli!
So, here I was, walking around Thun looking for a place to eat. I 'd already been to some of the best Italian restaurants in Italy (and some of the best Italian restaurants outside Italy , when, suddenly, by the river, in front of this idilic old (probably medieval wooden bridge (a famous sight , there it was: The Vinothek Thun. Chef (owner? Allesio Ciardo was busy cleaning tables because this was at around 4PM (during the break and, thus, no real food was being served. But the place is SO so charming that I decided to insist and Mr. Ciardo 's amazing friendliness prompted us to stay: but of course! I can improvise some antipasti and some cold cuts, some cheese selections and so on . I immediately became enthusiastic. What followed is almost not to be believed. He took about 10 minutes and came up with THE most delicious 3 plates I have in recent memory. I really don 't know how to describe the marvelousness of variety of tastes of the cured Pecorino and the so many different meats not to mention the different marinated mushrooms (chanterelles and so on and the Caprese is really out of this world. I have no words. I just wonder what would have happened if I had gone during the regular opening hours. I mean, I don 't have to wonder. I 'm going back tomorrow. The olive oil, a bottle of which I bought (Terra D 'Otranto DOP is out of this world. Thank you Mr. Alessio Ciardo for a wonderful afternoon. ENJOY LOVE Gerald
It’s location on a strip of restaurants that catch the afternoon sun make Vinothek I. Thun hard to beat. If you like people watching it’s on the town’s walking circuit go for a front row table. Good wine list. Italian menu. I had the forestier risotto bursting with chunks of perfectly cooked porchini. My only complaint was an inability to make me an affogato, but it more than passed muster.
Wanted a small meal so opted for a salad and an appetizer plate of fresh sliced meats accompagnied by bread. Good selection of wines by the glass. Prompt efficient service. Good location next to canal.
