There were actually quite a number of calamari pieces on the plate, with each of them tasting fresh, hot temperature-wise), and appetizing. I loved the dipping sauce that they came with although it wasn’t enough as we all dipped our calamari into it). Definitely a great appetizer to start off the evening! One thing which was a bit of a disappointment was that there was no complimentary bread at the beginning of our meal, something that we usually see at other high-end establishments, and would have loved to see here. For our main dishes, I had ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich with a side of French Fries) $18.00), while my husband and friend had settled on the Rib Steaks $68.00 for two), along with Lobster $17.00), Shrimp $10.00), and Scallops $14.00 for two orders) on the side. I was happy to see that the Prime Rib Sandwich came with a large array of French Fries, which was surprising as most establishments only provide a small amount of French Fries with their main dishes. I also loved how thinly-cut they were as they were tasty and easy-to-eat. The only thing was that they were not very warm temperature-wise); I would have liked for them to be hotter as they would have tasted a bit better. In terms of the sandwich itself, I loved how overloaded with meat it was, along with the nice tasting hoagie bun that it came on. I thought that the sandwich was well-done, although the dipping sauce that it came with was much too small to dip the sandwich into. Overall though, it was a great sandwich, and I’m glad that I had ordered it as it definitely filled me up! The Rib Steaks and seafood additions were also delicious, with large pieces of all items, and the perfect fixings on the side. My husband and friend were definitely impressed with how much food they had gotten, and how delicious it all tasted. For dessert, I had settled on the Baton Rouge Cookie $7.00), which was a large baked chocolate-chip cookie, with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and drizzled chocolate and caramel sauce. It was quite delicious, although I didn’t find the cookie very warm temperature-wise). We were told by our server that the first cookie had been burnt therefore, they were making a second-one for me which was the one that I had received). Our friend had settled on the White Raspberry Cheesecake $8.00) which he said was delicious. ATMOSPHERE: We had made reservations for our dinner as it did become quite crowded as we were seated. We were seated in a large booth near the kitchen, which had ample room for more than six people. I loved how comfortable the seating was, along with how relaxed the restaurant seemed. I felt peaceful as I sat there, eating my meal and enjoying the conversation. It was a bit loud as the kitchen was right next to us therefore, we were able to hear what the individuals in the kitchen were saying throughout the entire evening. I also loved the décor on the walls and the lighting, which was dimmed to create a relaxing ambiance. SERVICE: We were served by a young woman, whom was very attentive, kind, and courteous. She allowed us to take our time in choosing our items, and to relax afterwards. She also came by to fill our water glasses quite frequently, and even made some jokes with us, which kept us relaxed and happy. She was also apologetic about the burnt cookie, and came by frequently to ask us how we were enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything more. She was definitely one of the best servers that we have ever had, very well-done! This was my first time at this chain and it is pretty good. I found it very Keg like but with a wide variety of options on the menu. The steaks are very good with some great appetizers.
Where are the Ribs?!. Feb 15th 2015. Decided to go for dinner before a movie and Baton Rouge is usually a safe choice. This was a very odd evening. It started when we sat down at 6.30pm and were told that the kitchen ran out of any Lobster dishes it was Lobsterfest after all). They were out of some steaks and were low on RIBS??? This is Baton Rouge, how can you be low on ribs? Our server was great and he was very empathetic after taking our order and coming back to tell me the ribs were sold out...: While we waited and waited and waited, my wife and I decided to people watch and immediately noticed EVERY table around us was complaining about either delays in food or once recieved, the quality. It is cold, it is not cooked as ordered, it taste bad were common themes. Then the poor Manager had to go to ever table and comp'ed all meals. Some people walked out without being served. Those that came in were told they were now out of calamari, mashed and baked potatoes, dips, etc etc etc... Or server came by to top up drinks as we waited over 1 hr for seared ahi tuna and a 7oz steak medium). Not sure why it took over 1 hr to sear tuna and grill a steak??? Both which came Luke warm at best . Manager came by, offered discounts, free deserts, etc. while the food was edible, it was not up to the usual quality and consistency you expect from Baton Rouge. Not sure what happen to this location BUT will not see me back there. Because of this delay, I missed our show time show and was left to watch my wife's pick...that awful J'Lo movie!!!
Been here a few times and will go again for sure. The seafood here is better than red lobster's. Nice atmosphere and decent service.
