Everyone was dressed up, including the kitchen staff, and there were decorations everywhere! I loved the spirit in the restaurant that night. Just that I'm itself is enough for me to guarantee that I'll be back in the future
To start off, the restaurant can get pretty busy so reservations would be recommended.<br/ <br/ Like many Japanese Izakayas, Guu with Garlic caters a great vibe, and dishes are best accompanied with a drink. <br/ <br/ Prices are okay especially considering the location but the taste of their tapas are a bit on the lighter side compared to its competitors.
The wait time for Friday night at 10pm was about 45 minutes. I completely understand why they are so busy the food is amazing! My favourites are the yaki udon, Kim chi udon, scallop pizza, and chicken karage. Definitely worth the wait!
Japanese tapas at its best. Beef tongue, beef yaki udon, pork belly, salmon carpaccio are the must-order items. Have beer or sake to complement the tastiness of the food, your stomach will thank you.
Prepare yourself for some sick eats. The cow sacrificed for our beef tataki and beef tongue was well worthy. The oden had a deliciously light broth that brought on memories of the land of rising sun. Every bite of the sukiyaki with Udon was packed with flavour that you'll want to savour and the stewed pork was tender like a mother's love for her new born.<br/ <br/ Do yourself favour and guu here asap.
