Went to Kintaro for lunch yesterday and both the food and experience were great! I had a negative experience (in regards to service) at another ramen spot
Friendly and fast service, great portion and very tasty. All in all it's a perfect spot for a quick and very good lunch/snack.
Dined here recently for dinner and ordered the shiso with Cha-Shu pork. Comparing Kintaro to other ramen restaurants along Robson street I would have to say that it is not as good as Hokkaido or Danbo. The broth was just OK for my taste and the heavy reliance on bean sprouts did not appeal to me. Overall, I found the food to be below par when compared to other ramen restaurants in the area. The service was very nice and the atomsphere was typical: casual, laid-back. I will not be returning here for my ramen fix.
This is a small restaurant and seeing a line up is not unusual. But the staff move people fast by taking your order while you are lining up. You get decent portion size with good soup base. There are quite a few competitors in the neighborhood but none come close to giving you the best bang for your bucks.
