Trattoria Da Ferruccio - VENEZIA

It’s named trattoria, even though in my opinion this restaurant belongs to the category of “elegant restaurants”. Few tables, set in a very elegant way like in posh restaurants. The menu offers local sea food dishes. The ingredients sea food are very fresh. The service is not the quickest one, but that’s the way it is, when dishes are made from scratches by a chef and nothing is frozen prepared ready-made. For those who complained for the wait for the food, if you come to Italy and you go to a restaurant to have freshly made dishes, it will go like this.

The service was good and the Italian food was what would be expected. It wasn't outstanding but for Venice it held its own. Perhaps it was just a poor day for the chef.

Had a misfortune of visiting this place recently. There is a great restaurant nearby Quantum, but unfortunately it was fully booked on that day, so we went to Ferruccio on advice of Quantum staff, and were utterly disappointed. It took at least 15 min to get a menu. When the menu finally arrived it turned out to be nothing but A4 page in Italian with pretty high prices given location and overall ambiance of the restaurant (very basic) which kind of raised a suspicion that it took so long because it was printed for us, three naive foreigners. Food was further disappointment very small portions of basic cooking. For example spaghetti frutti di mare was cheap pasta from supermarket with 3 5 tiny shrimps all for 12 EUR. The bill was for 160 EUR for 3 main courses, 2 starters, bottle of basic wine and bottle of water. When we looked at the itemized bill we discovered that it included more items (plates) than we ordered. So we called a waiter to point this out, he disappeared for another 10 min, just to come back with a bill of 115, which, again, was higher than adding up the prices for things we ordered from the menu. Finally, after second discussion on the topic, he corrected the bill again to what it should have been per this A4 page that is 100 EUR way too expensive for the quality and quantity of food we ordered,

Abbiamo mangiato del pesce crudo e cotto di ottima qualità, servito in maniera impeccabile in un ambiente dallo stile sobrio e tradizionale. Sicuramente ritorneremo.

Came here for my birthday. I really liked their grilled shrimp!
