It could be due to a new chef or perhaps just a reflection of the current state of restaurants. The service was for a dine-in dinner.
They serve best Sushi in the High Desert! Fantastic presentation. But they did forget one of our orders which we later canceled. Conscientious waitstaff. I usually enjoy Samurai Sushi, but the service and food I received yesterday afternoon at lunch was deplorable. There was something fuzzing in our roll and the miso soup took 1/2 hour to get to me with 1 piece of seaweed and 3 tofu blocks. The roll wasn't even covered with enough seaweed and we ordered the crunch roll to find burnt sesame seeds for the crunch. I have never had such a bad lunch. I'm hoping the owners are on vacation. They did recognize the poor quality of service and food and I was comp'd what we did eat. I was not going to try the third roll that just made it to our table an hour later.
This restaurant is the best sushi I've had since being stationed in Japan. The service was great and the sake and plum rice wine were the best I've tasted in the United States. Restaurants like this are true hidden gems. The prices are great, the restaurant is clean, and the overall experience is wonderful. I highly recommend dining in for dinner. The price per person is between $10 and $20. I rated the food, service, and atmosphere as a 5 out of 5. I recommend trying the Samurai Sushi and Big Sashimi dishes.
