Surprisingly, it's difficult to find an open restaurant in B'Spa fairly early on a Sunday morning (The Iron Roost was closed for a week, not sure why the Whistling Kettle was closed). We ended up at the Whitehouse. Outside it didn't look like a great option. But we were pleasantly surprised by the inside. Very clean, larger than we thought, and comfortable seating. We ordered--hubby got scrambled eggs, toast and home fries. I opted for corn beef has and home fried. When my plate was set down in front of me, I almost pushed it aside. It didn't look inviting at all. But I decided to give it a go. The potatoes were mushy, watery, and basically flavorless. The hash had absolutely no texture, save the diced potatoes in it. The meat was the consistency of wet mud. This also was flavorless. Not wanting to waste it all, I took great liberty with, and was very thankful for, the ketchup, salt and pepper on the table! Hubby's eggs were bland but the toast was good. The cook needs to take a trip to flavortown and get some spices, and maybe some onions. I don't recommend. Sorry.
Perfect breakfast spot. Great menu with lots of options with amazing prices. Food was delicious. The omelette was big and had real big pieces of ham in it. The French toast was one of the best I’ve ever had. Lovely homey atmosphere perfect for two or a family. Lots of seating. Definitely recommend. Amazing food and great prices. Parking is around the corner across from the gas station by the laundromat for free. There’s also street parking for free as well.
This restaurant located right in the heart of downtown Ballston Spa, minutes drive from Saratoga Springs, is a delicious, no frills restaurant, serving up breakfast classics. I was in town for the Belmont this weekend and decided to check this place out for breakfast on a Sunday (it had been highly recommended to me). The food was outstanding, the restaurant was very clean, and the service was friendly and attentive all while being filled with locals. The waitress filled my water many times without being asked and made sure everyone at the table always had a full cup of coffee. I ordered scrambled eggs, homefries, and blueberry pancakes- everything was hot and delicious. I especially enjoyed the homefries which were crispy from the grill and came with caramelized onions mixed in. The Italian Toast which the chef bakes daily was outstanding- a MUST TRY. The prices were reasonable and the portions were very filling. Despite the busy breakfast rush, the owners (Karen and David) and the rest of their team were inviting and friendly. Since every local knows about this place being the best in town, if you are in the area, stopping by is a must. Thank you for a delicious meal, I will absolutely be back. Vegetarian options: Good choice of vegetarian options and some vegan options as well. Dietary restrictions: The team is happy to work with any requests you might have. Parking: Easy free street parking right out front of the restaurant Kid-friendliness: The owners know everyone! They love kids and families considering the place is filled with locals and regulars.
Just want to say thankyou to you all for handling such a big group this morning for my granddaughters birthday brunch. You all were amazing and the food was great and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back more often. Hugs to all the staff.
