When I was there, it was for a small event, and not only were the staff great about accommodating and being patient with my group, but when we asked them to reduce the volume of the music so we could have our event discussion, they immediately complied. For the catering event, I asked if I could do a Monday pickup (since it was a Monday event) and not only did they agree, in spite of being closed on Mondays, but i was literally the only catering order they even had that day, so they opened just for me, which is an unreal level of restaurant courteousness. The upstaids deli space is roomy and cheery, and the downstairs Botanical Bar is gorgeous and sexy. Ideal for a date, but also really nice and chill for pretty much any dining situation. For now the stars are mostly for ambiance and service. The food has been a little more hit or miss with me, but when it's a hit, it HITS. The vegan macaroni and cheese that I ordered for the catered event was unbelievably delicious. The beet burger sliders are good, would have been better if hot, but I appreciated the spicy kick. I was a little meh on the balsamic glazed tofu, but that was the most popular item at the catered event, so I'm clearly an outlier there. The lemon dill potato salad was less popular but I personally enjoyed how light and refreshing that was, with nice bright flavors. The chesapeake fritters I had during my group event, on the other hand, were a little TOO lemony. Good coleslaw though, and my partner enjoyed his meatball sub. Excited to make drinks at the Botanical Bar my next trip, and at some point, brunch!
This place is nice and quaint. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food wasn't bad. The mushroom omelette was a bit overpowering but had good flavor. The potato skins were tasty
This place is great! The food is delicious, the service is fast and friendly. AND THEY HAVE VEGAN WINES AND DESSERTS! Please excuse the shouting text, but I love this place. Makes me want to move onto P Street in Dupont Circle. Music is chill, seats are comfortable and I didn't mind the smudge stick out front. Gives DC Vegan a neo-hippie vibe. The Upstate Beans Greens was flavorful and the Chick'n Parm salad was crisp and filling. Five stars!
Brunchin today for the first time was a treat! Isaiah our server was so sweet and excellent! I had an amazing breakfast bowl and my husband had the sausage and cheese frittata. We shared the most delightful French toast too. Everything was delicious. This is a small quaint place so you definitely need to make reservations. You won't regret it. Might I say that my husband isn't vegan, but left his plate clean.
Bards singing layers of these carrot skins for the rest of the time. I will become old and tell my grandchildren about their crispy skin, stronger inner and creamy beats. it's a tragic thing to think about how holiday is over and I can never taste it again. are moments like these that they ask, is it better to have loved and lost or never loved a spit at all? we ordered the kartoffel skins (obvious) braided jackfruit philly, fried artichoke, fries and salat. it was incredible. we took the subway there after the zoo, well the walk from the subway station. in the inner there is approx. 5-6 tables, two exteriors. very friendly staff. cold brewed beverages, along with other fancy doses and bottled beverages. a lot of cakes and sweets too. updated by previous review on 2022-09-10
