For the first time after govindas at the west end and for the first time to the west end, since I was or years old. - what? an eating room like me will have a field day here. Anyway, over govindas the decoration was more basic, then I expected, but I did not come for the decoration, I came for the food. I was invited by friends and eating was good. it was vegetarian. it was healthy and tasty and it was in full. great service, good food and delicious banana pudding. they cannot go wrong with for the hardboard inc their lemon and ingwer drink and they can have seconds. thank you, I will be back! sards
If you're looking for some meat of any kind you better skip this place. If you're looking for some cheap, tasty, and guaranteed you won't leave hungry food then this is a good place. Come for the food and not the decor.
If you like vegetarian food you will love Govinda's - it's very much multi cultural food bringing together vegetarian food from all parts of the world. The environment is simplistic. Flavour is wholesome and authentic.
I have been going to Govinda's since 2014, after being introduced to it through the UQ Vegetarian club. The food is always good and I love the casual atmosphere of the place. It isn't obvious and can be easily missed, but it's perfect for a casual lunch/dinner of authentic Vegetarian Indian food. The Feast Meal is absolutely excellent and you will get rice, curry, dahl, koftas (THESE ARE AMAZING), chutney, pappadam, fresh garden salad (also YUM) and halava (semolina pudding). It also comes with ginger and mint lemonade, which is perfect on a hot summer's day! It's only $10 for students ($12.90 for the rest) which is a great deal, especially for a place in the CBD and for the size of the meal. I recommend not eating anything beforehand as you will be nursing a food baby afterwards :)
