I went to this restaurant with my wife and a friend for lunch. The restaurant is located in a beautiful Georgian building that has been restored to its former glory as part of a luxury retirement complex. The dining area is spacious with tables well spread out and covered in elegant linen. The menu offered a fantastic variety of courses, all of which were excellently prepared and presented. Though the Malbec was a bit pricey at £28, it was definitely worth the cost. Two of us opted for the duck while our friend chose the sea bream, all of which came with delicious sides. For dessert, we enjoyed the Creme Brulee. We finished off the meal with coffee.
This restaurant is really wonderful. The staff is friendly and eager to assist with any request, and the food is absolutely fantastic. It's a hidden gem that I can't believe I didn't find sooner, even though I live nearby.
We were fascinated that this up market care home/sheltered accommodation would have a restaurant open to the public. The house is glorious and seems like an hotel in many respects. We ate in the garden in lovely sunshine and ordered from a very small menu. Some of our meal was lovely, one main was overcooked and very small. However, it was a pleasant lunch and I'm glad we went. Nice staff and gastopub prices.
We had planned to make a reservation at Blandy's for a Festive Menu lunch with friends. The website and menu indicated that the menu was available from 12 noon to 8.00pm, so we chose to book a table at 1.00pm to have ample time to enjoy a leisurely meal and catch up in a pleasant atmosphere. However, we were surprised to receive a booking confirmation stating that our table was reserved for only one hour from 1.00 to 2.00pm. I reached out to the restaurant to clarify this discrepancy. After a second email, they informed me that despite the advertised times, the restaurant actually operates from 12 noon to 2.00pm for lunch and then reopens from 5.00 to 8.00pm for dinner. This meant that we would be rushed to finish our meal by 2.00pm, even though they said we could stay longer if needed. If we had known about the early closing time, we would not have made a reservation, so we decided to cancel. They did offer the option to rent a private dining room from 12.00 to 4.00pm for £125, but we declined. It's disappointing that the Blandy's Festive Menu experience did not meet our expectations or match their advertisement, leading us to seek alternative dining options.
