I appreciated the ability to customize it to my preference, such as choosing between medium rare or well done. The vanilla shake was also very tasty. The service was excellent as well. Upon revisiting the restaurant recently, I found that the food and service were still top-notch. The soup of the day was also exceptional. Although the restaurant was undergoing construction inside, it is expected to be updated and improved soon.
During a road trip in the area, we came across this restaurant that we had noticed last year but didn't visit. This time, we decided to stop by and we were immediately drawn in by its original look and sign. We arrived on a quiet Sunday afternoon, allowing us to explore the place without disturbing other customers. We were impressed by the historical information and articles about the original crew and owner, as well as the transformation the restaurant had undergone. Although the booths were a bit tight for two large individuals like us, it was a unique experience to sit in a place that seemed unchanged for a long time. Signs on the door indicated upcoming changes, but we hope they won't alter the restaurant too much. Overall, we didn't notice many maintenance issues. We ordered two burgers and were pleasantly surprised by their freshness and size. We also shared an ice cream sundae, which unfortunately ended up spilling everywhere due to its unusual container. Despite this, we will definitely return for the history and delicious food if we pass through the area again. If you appreciate old buildings preserved like a time capsule, this is the perfect spot for you.
Just went to the Pit and the burger is just as tasty as it was 40 years ago. Same classic fifties vibe atmosphere with Naugahyde booths and Seeburg wall boxes.
The best chicken cheesesteak in the area! Especially during the day when the cook is on. Wow! I like to add mayo and pickles- it's a treat for me!
We used to frequent Charcoal Pit when our kids were little, but the quality of employees and food has been on the decline in recent years. Decided to try it again based on better reviews, but it's just not the same. While the server was very nice and attentive, the soda was flat, the burger was just ok, the roll was lousy, the lettuce on the burger was wilted, they only gave you a handful of fries, and I didn't get the condiments I asked for on the burger. All in all, very disappointing and probably my last attempt at recapturing what used to be so good.
