Either had to have lobster or something else as an entree. I'll have to come back and try the lobster next time. Add on! The night after I eat this meal I was awoken with horrible nausea. I almost felt like trying to make myself vomit. I think I got sick from the clams. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think I'm going to eat here again.
This is a nice restaurant. It has a beautful location on a hill/cliff area on the river with veiws of the area up and down river and a dam. Very nice. The inside is kind of plain and nothing special but clean with a casual feel. We were here on a Saturday night with a large group of folks. The staff was very nice and it was obvious they were understaffed so service was spoty and slow at times. I noticed people walking in and it took too long for anyone to greet them as no one seemed to really pay much attention to the host/hostess desk. As for the food it was pretty good but not great if you do not like seafood. That was my wifes situation as she had a steak. One of only a couple of non-seafood selections. The seafood was very good and fairly priced for what you get. This menaing the sides are pretty basic such as baked potatoes and plain vegatbles. I had the Maine lobster dinner which was very good. It came with clams and seafood chowder all of which were very good. All in all a decent place to have an inexpensive dinner with a great view.
Ate dinner here recently with a group of 7. Sat outside on the deck on a perfect evening and had beautiful views of the river at sunset. Service was very friendly and efficient. Food arrived in a timely manner. Had the fried scallops which absolutely melt in your mouth. Seriously delicious. Others in the group ordered clams and shrimp and enjoyed their meals as well. A very laid back and casual place. Will definitely return when in the area.
A few locals recommended checking this place out so thought I would give it a shot. What I liked most about the Lobster Trap was the outside views were pretty amazing and the steamed lobsters are pretty good as well. Their chowder here was cold as others stated and I really wasn't a fan of the chowder anyways. The other downfall to this place was the service was pretty slow especially for the place not being busy. It took about 45 minutes to get my food out to me and our server also didn't come around much.
Ate dinner here going through Waterville. Eat outside if the weather is nice; inside, it smells nasty but outside there is a lovely view and a breeze off the river. Food: Great. I had a steak, cooked to perfection, accompanied by nicely done french fries. Mother had boiled lobster, was fresh and very good. Service: Meh. They brought the food, it was hot, then they sort of abandoned us for the rest of the meal; I had to track down the waitress to get the check. Ambiance: Sat on the deck watching the sunset, so quite pleasant. Don't eat inside though. Overall: Good place as long as you're willing to hunt down the waitstaff when you want anything. Food makes up for the service nicely.
