Barbican House - York

Booked as a surprise birthday trip (I am usually not the one to book, I have terrible history with booking sites! , but I chose the best place to stay York! It was only a few minutes walk from the city centre, where it had a lot to do! When we went to Barbican House Durga through a York card with us, gave us instructions and suggestions where we could visit and was just super helpful! The room where we stayed was so clean, the bed was comfortable and the little extras like hot chocolate and cookies were so sweet little extra. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful, so nicely cooked! If we come back to York, we will definitely stay in the Barbican house!

Excellent! we had a pleasure to stay here for 2 nights (memories of the new year 2022.) place them on clean and hygienic guest house, room bath. good location, right in front of york wall. the owner is so friendly, helpful. beautiful breakfast. very recommended to stay!

After we have stayed here several times in recent years and have come home today after another fabulous stay, we recommend this facility, service is first class, all very professionally performed. Breakfast is of a very high standard and quality and the rooms are impeccable. Durga is a gentleman. Hopefully we can continue to visit for many years as it makes our trips to York even more memorable.

We loved it! The owners (Durga and Bimala) are the most welcoming and charming people you could imagine. Sat at our breakfast table we could have listened to Durga for hours, but sadly we had to go. The guest house is packed with character, the hospitality is second to none. The only downside for us was that our room gave onto the ring road and we did hear the traffic for a while. As it was warm we had opened windows a bit but fortunately found how to work the fan in the room which provided blissful relief. A truly excellent venue and service, credit yo the dedication of the owners!
