Consequently when it's cold as it was last night, the bathroom is quite literally freezing. The room had a heater and was actually fine, but it was too cold to contemplate a shower and there was no shampoo or soap provided so it was out of the question anyway.
The site has no restaurant, so no food here, which means dinner and breakfast offsite or brought in. The landlady was helpful, but you have to be aware guests are often unsupported at night on site; more like a self catered room. However the rooms are fresh and clean and facilities in good order. Parking available at site.
Dingy alley way to the rear door with uneven and pitted flooring. Room was a good size and the beds were quite comfy. But that's it. Poorly decorated with a half painted wardrobe and coffee table. Yes tea and coffe facilities are there, but how do you fill the kettle? From the shower!! York is a 40 min walk or a £7/8 taxi ride. Use Starline taxis, reliable and prompt. Bear in mind that the hotel is on a main road and is quite noisy most of the time. I'm afraid i probably won't be staying here again if i was visiting York in the future.
Great little pub. Two different bars, so you can choose to sit with the younger crowd, or at my age, the quieter side by the fire ! Good food and decent choice of ales, although I'm a cider drinker ! Wine tasting and various other events keeps it interesting. Dog friendly, in fact our pooch was looked after food and drink wize, pretty much as quickly as we were. Steps to get into the pub might be difficult for wheelchair users, and the restrooms will likely be a bit tight too. In the better weather there's plenty of seating outside at the front and although for some reason no longer available at the rear.
No welcome whatsoever, barman didn't even know what the price of a pint of Timothy Taylor's Landord was when I queried the total charge. He calculated the total bill via an ipad and said he thought it was £4.70 which I thought was pricey. I won't be going back anytime soon!
