A couple weeks ago, I attended the pre launch function at Kushi Robatayaki Bar and Grill, a new Japanese restaurant specialising in grilled food over hot charcoal. I went to the dinner as a guest of the ever up to date Brisvegustation, along with popular instagrammers Imco and Basketballfreak6. . Got there at our reserved time of 7.30pm, and our table was set and waiting for us.

Cozy little cafe, owners were friendly and gave us accurate directions when we asked. Impressed that they have eftpos, coffee gave me the much needed caffeine hit :

How to win a girl 's heart. Step 1: Take her out to a night of jazz. Step 2: Top it off with a gigantic piece of fried chicken. Honestly, I thought I knew what affection was. That 's until he said the magic words to me after a great show at Paris Cat Jazz Club: 'Let 's get some Hot Star '. I don 't believe I 've ever felt such emotion to another human being as much as I felt for him in that moment. Perhaps there is a thing as a soul mate, and we both love ridiculously oversized fried chicken.

After an underwhelming meal at Your Personal Chef, my craving for food of my hometown, Hong Kong was left unsatisfied. Thankfully, Iron Fist decided that in the name of spontaneity we would go and scratch this itch. Which is why we headed to the newest branch of Woka Woka, in Underwood for a quick fix to stave off those cravings.

Long time readers of my blog will know that I have a sort of love hate relationship with newly opened restaurants. On one hand, I love going to satisfying my curiosity, but on the other hand, quite a few problems occur on the first day, that are eventually sorted out after running the restaurant for a few more days. However, when I heard that Neil Perry's largely popular Burger Project was coming to Brisbane, I had very little hesitation in trying it out on the first day.

Midweek brunch to remind myself of the joys of the weekend. Luckily New Bliss is close enough to work that I can get over there and back within my designated lunch slot. Tucked away in the foyer of the commercial building at 47 Warner Street, I could not help but be envious of all the corporates who were lucky enough to have this cafe at their fingertips.

One of my board game buddies has long recommended that I try out Rokun Izakaya, a new Korean run Japanese eatery in Runcorn plaza. Situated next to Moge tea, it has become fairly popular, thus making it even more difficult to source a parking spot during peak hours. Nevertheless determined, I made a point to try it out.

Whilst there has been considerable confusion online about whether Shinbashi Yakiniku at Underwood is newly opened from Melbourne or if it's under new management. I can confirm to readers that through my unrivaled sleuthing skills, it has not changed management and has been open in the same complex along Logan road for over 10 years. What has changed however, is their new marketing team, WeCollective, who organised a marketing launch party last week, which I was privileged enough to go to.

Having tried out almost all the Hot Pot restaurants in Brisbane, one that keeps getting pushed further and further down my list is The Cube Hot Pot. With winter having truly set in, and the abrupt closure of my beloved 100 Degrees, I finally decided to make my way to Sunnybank Plaza and give it a go last Saturday over lunch.

Having been to quite a few of the brunch places in New Farm, one that has really caught my eye was Five Thirty on Brunswick, which patrons have posted quite a number of highly captivating foodie photos online. Being situated along Brunswick Street, we had a bit of trouble finding parking, and  had to walk a fair while until we arrived at the restaurant.
