You don’t have to understand a word of Portuguese to understand the emotional interpretation of the Fado presentation. The Casa de Fados is an intimate dining room. There is no stage. Tables are set with white tablecloths, napkins, assorted wine glasses. The menu is Portuguese traditional and modern. Our selection of sea bass and chicken for the main entree did not disappoint. Without any announcements, the lights were dimmed, SILENCE IS EXPECTED,talking is not tolerated, during the performance. The singer stood under an archway in the center of the restaurant, a light was cast on her, the classical guitarist began to play and the “ show” began. When she ended the room erupted into massive applauding and cheers! The lights were brought back! The oddity: no one is introduced! The performers do their job and leave! Dessert was offered and accepted. The check received. It was a wonderful experience.

Clean, tidy, a good menu and some nice freshly prepared food. We chose some empanadas 2 each and in different fillings. We also asked for a mixed salad. With a tea and a coffee, the total was only 11 euros great value. Great service, helpful staff, nice premises, good food. Well worth a visit.
