26.06.2024 - 08:52Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food holds a special place in my heart as not only the food I was raised on but also as one of the most effortlessly vegan friendly cuisines in the world. However, while there is a hefty variety of pre-existing cruelty-free options from this part of the world, few restaurants take advantage of this fact and fail to introduce many of these dishes to the standard American. And this is where Kabab El Basha comes in. Kabab El Basha, which is specifically Egyptian influence, is one of the first Mediterranean places I've been to in the IE that offers more than just your standard hummus/falafel combo (not that I don't love these). In addition to those two items, it also offers options ranging from spinach pie, a vegan moussaka, Mohammara, Potato Maza (which has my heart), and so much more all clearly labeled as vegan so that there is no confusion. In fact, there are so many vegan options on this menu that there are actually a few that are vegan but missing the label (I have double checked to be sure). I will admit that the food is a tad more expensive than some similar restaurants in the area and the wait time can be a little long sometimes, but the food is well worth it and while you are waiting, I highly recommend browsing their store which features all kinds of goodies from that region. For me personally, none of this is an issue as it is one of the only places to find genuine flavors and unique dishes that are otherwise hard to find, and all while being expertly prepared and packed full of quality veggies and hand-selected spices. One of my favorites in Riverside and easily gets all four of my stars.

27.10.2023 - 15:28The cakes from 7 Deadly Confections are easily some of the best I've had vegan or not. I have had quite a few of their products each and every one of them has blown me away with how moist, rich, and flavorful it was. Cakes are without a doubt a science that this baker has mastered through and through. The brownies are dense but airy (I don't even know how to describe this consistency, but it's fantastic) and made with what has to be a high quality cocoa powder because the chocolate has such good flavor. The carrot cupcake is light with a mellow fruitiness and some of the best vegan cream cheese frosting around. And I have absolutely no words for how much I love their coffeecakes, all of which are only in competition with each other because they're all so good (but definitely don't sleep on the Cinnamon Streusel). Easy five stars! Updated from previous review on 2021-04-26

26.10.2023 - 19:24This is probably one of my favorite boba places in general. They offer a wide array of vegan options making it possible to veganize just about every one of their drinks which range from smoothies to milk teas to coffee. All of their boba is also vegan and pairs perfectly with just about everything on the menu. Some of my favorite drinks include their Moon Milk Tea, Mermaid Milk Tea, and my absolute favorite thing on their menu: the Flight of Cold Brew which allows you to tasted all of their current cold brew coffees (though this might not be available during COVID regulations). I also frequently order their unofficial Coffee con Panna which is just their top tier (perfect) espresso topped with a helping of plant-based whipped cream. Even though this is of course a quality boba tea house, do not sleep on their coffee as it is, in my opinion, some of the best coffee in the area. The drinks are fabulous! The staff is almost even more fabulous! In terms of quality, I would easily rate this place five stars, but of course, one less star as five stars are saved for the 100% vegan places (that also consequently deserve five stars). A great place that comes highly recommended!

17.08.2023 - 12:59Amp Nakatl Asada offers some of the most refreshing takes on food I 've seen in a good while! The way everything is prepared is not as heavily spiced as I was expecting, but what they 've done instead is bring out the best flavors inate to the goods themselves. The veggies are crisp and their fish is not as overpowering as some other places I 've tried while still tying the flavors together almost perfectly. It 's tacos, but (from my perspective) with a healthier twist that doesn 't just come from the fact everything is 100% vegan. And I don 't know what it was, but their nachos al pastor are up there as some of my favorites. And their prices are pretty middle of the road for a newer restaurant. Nothing too expensive, but nothing particularly cheap. The only issue I could see is that if you 're going for a specifically street taco kind of vibe, this night not fully quench that craving, [censored] imo that 's not really a bad thing.
