Lire plus We visited after an interminable wait to be served at the Wykeham Arms across the road. Mistake. Quiche, soup and sandwiches on offer for lunch. “No quiche”, said the waitress before we sat down. We ordered two sandwiches (at a hefty £8.50 a pop) and a pot of tea. We’d drunk most of the tea when the chef left to come back 2 minutes later with a jar of gherkins and other shopping. Not a great sign as one of our sandwiches contained gherkins.... All the tea consumed when the sandwiches arrived, 25 minutes after they’d been ordered. To be fair, they were very good, if on the small side for the price. As we left, the waitress was coming back from the shops with a loaf of bread.... We were 2 of only 4 customers. Conclusion: nice food, disorganised kitchen, not to be hurried...
