The whole team were friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. Will definitely be coming back more regularly even if it is an hours trip.

Lire plus We had been hoping to find a local restaurant that served freshly made sushi and so I was delighted to spot Ding Dong when walking Upminster high street. The decor is fairly basic but I would say that's probably the only negative to the place overall. The waiting staff are friendly and attentive. They engaged us in conversation; talked to us about the menu and were a pleasure to deal with. We enjoyed tempura and asparagus as a starter. For mains we had a selection of Chunky Maki Rolls, Rainbow rolls and Nigiri. I asked to customise the rolls to remove avocado (as they were freshly made) and this was no problem at all. The food was tasty (maybe would have liked to have the Chunky roll a bit spicier as it had only a small dab of Sriracha). Portion sizes were excellent. They all came with pickled ginger to cleanse the palate and some decent wasabi. We had some warm sake to wash this down and the whole thing came to £40 which is an absolute steal in comparison to prices in Central. There was a steady influx of customers (both take-away and eat-in) and I think we will definitely order from here in future.
