Small little coffee shop that has an interesting range of platted meals for a reasonable price. Welcoming staff

We visited this cafe for morning tea and was treated with a scrumptious home made cake and some of the nicest coffee we have ever had, roasted locally and brewed to perfection. We are visiting Armidale again in September so we will be making a return visit.

I asked for a salmon pattie and a large Quinoa/roasted vege salad to take away and was charged $25. I queried the cost and was told that the Quinoa was an expensive ingredient - hence the cost of the large salad (regular chinese takeaway size!) was $18.50 (wha' tha ??). Upon eating the salad, I noted that the last time I had eaten the salad in-house, there was a lot more quinoa and much less roast potato included. I shared this takeaway meal with my Mum at her place as she was moving house and without mentioning anything about the cost, she said 'A shame there isn't as much quinoa in here as last time we had this'. So it wasn't just me thinking that there was much LESS of the 'expensive grain' in the Quinoa salad (i.e. main ingredient!). Interestingly, it only cost us $17.70 to have a salmon pattie EACH with a Quinoa salad about 6 months previously when we popped in to eat there. Not sure why, but things have changed and it is really noticeable IF you love quinoa :( Unfortunately yet another Armidale eatery whose food quantity/quality falls off as time moves on ...

We visit The Plum Tree Larder regularly. Located outside Coles supermarket, it is an easy place to meet with friends for a quiet coffee/tea and chat. They even accommodate a full shopping trolley! Table seating can be moved to accommodate varied numbers of guests. Service is always welcoming and prompt. Freshly made cakes and slices are yummy. Staff are happy to work around individual requests that may not necessarily be on the menu - if they can do it, they will. The menu changes regularly but well liked items are retained. We will continue to visit.
