Southern Stone - Bloomington

I have to say, we have never been disappointed when dining here (short of being able to get a table on a busy evening). Breakfast/Brunch is fantastic. This review however is about my most recent visit on 4/8/22 while dining at the bar. My beautiful bride (of 28 years tomorrow) and I always prefer to dine at the bar. The restaurant was busy, but seating at the bar was pretty open. The draft beer selection is somewhat limited, although well thought out and selected. I opted for the shiitake mushroom smash burger and fries, and was not disappointed. The burger was perfectly seasoned and prepared, and the mushroom, Swiss combination was fantastic on a nicely toasted potato bun. My wife was the beneficiary of what may be one of the best sandwiches Bloomington has the offer (this is my official nomination). The Flying Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich was a special item, and I am hopeful that it becomes a regular offering. The chicken was perfectly breaded, and seasoned. The chicken was presented in a perfectly toasted bun along with hand carved smoked ham, pineapple and cheese. Seriously, this is something that we lucked into ordering and would now return frequently to enjoy. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS SANDWICH. Kudos Southern Stone. Nice atmosphere, menu and service.

Delicious! had a fabulous meal with the family. very friendly staff nice vibe. love the peace shrimp dinner. garnelen were very delicious. outside seating area, large bar and cool artworks that cover the walls. will definitely eat again.

Stopped by with a coworker for dinner before a work function. The service was quick and our server was great. Food was really good. Beans were sweeter than I like and mashed potatoes were a little over worked but the flavor was there. Sweet Tea Brined Fried chicken came out quickly and was hot and fresh and was very tasty; especially with that hot honey. Will return to try the other items on the menu.

Food was great. Sweat tea drinks were delicious. Wait staff is the only reason this isn't a 5 star review. Haley was our waitress and we rarely saw her. Empty glasses and dishes were left on our table instead of removed. They were busy this weekend with IU graduation and automatically put a 20% tip on our table of 3.

I chose the shishatake mushrooms smash burger and pommes, and was not disappointed. the burger was perfectly spiced and prepared, and the mushroom, Swiss combination was fantastic on a beautiful roasted potato bunk. my wife was the recipient of what could be one of the best sandwiches that bloomington has the offer (this is my official nomination). the flying Hawaiian chicken sandwich was a special product, and I hope it becomes a regular offer. the chicken was perfectly baked and seasoned. the chicken was presented in a perfectly roasted bungalow together with hand carved smoked ham, pineapple and cheese. in seriousness, this is something that we have succeeded in order and now often enjoy again. not that I am there. kudos southern stone. beautiful atmosphere, menu and service.
