El Ultimo Refugio - Bocas del Toro

It was our 5th night in panama between Panama City and bocas del toro. we found this place randomly as it is located in bocas del toro something from most restaurants. probably the best we had so far in panama. to mention their cocktail selection. it looks like they have every night another menu and it is handwritten on a whiteboard that their server leads to their table to order. my wife ordered her meerrot tuna steak, which I also tried. very delicate and different from what they would expect in the usa (with some local taste not strong enough to overdo the taste of the fish). my steak salad (with filet mignon) was also excellent and no complaining about the service we had. if they happen to be in bocas del toro, they will please one and visit this place to dinner.

Food and service wasn’t great. Tempting menu yet myself and friends found the seafood overcooked and a bit bland. The the atmosphere and venue was brilliant however.

Delicious tuna on a bed of mashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables, plus locally made kombucha and salad topped with cranberries and goat cheese. So wonderful to be served with kindness.

Had dinner at El Ultimate Refugio . Fantastic dining experience. Can definitely recommend. Great atmosphere and the food and service was quick and exceptional. Fresh ingredients with fantastic flavour. Good selection of cocktails. Well worth a visit

We loved the atmosphere and live music. Great service and great food! We had the octopus dish and it was amazing and tender! We also did the mahi- it had absolutely no flavor at all. The fried fish was great and tasted like chicken parmigiana...and the lobster risotto was amazing.
