If you're looking for authentic Newfoundland cuisine, this is the place to go. It's also incredible that it's community-run and a non-profit, ensuring the money goes to good causes. We couldn't resist buying some of their delicious jams as well.
On the way from Bonavista to Maberly for dinner. It is furnished in an older building with a very basic one. My wife wanted the Jigg's dinner, but we were informed that it was only available on certain days due to the lead time. Something disappointed... that this was not shown on the menu. The food was different and the price was reasonable.
The restaurant has a charming building and a friendly staff. My dining companion had the salted cod dinner and thought it was excellent. I opted for fried cod with a side salad instead of chips and found it to be very good.
We had fishcake, French natchos, scallops packed in bacon and salad. They were all delicious, but not excellent. Service was friendly. The prices were good. We didn't have the lobster though it looked good at other Diner's table
Simple food great sandwiches and desserts. Like going to your Grandma's house for a meal. The server told us it is non profit business that supports the community and it was the by far the best value meal we had in our entire NL trip.
