Assaggio - Branford

Our first time in assaggio, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Salmon special was delicious, like the shrimps/scallop and pasta dishes. very attentive waitress. we're coming back.

Very cramped. seats were so close to other tables that I couldn't have a conversation with my wife. calamari ordered and it was rubbery and all tentacles. my steak was good, but the potato layer caserole was cold. I was not impressed and would not eat there again. server was in order, but not what I expect in a fine restaurant.

Food and service was very good. it was cool in the restaurant. it was a little expensive. the wein was about $11 or $12 a glass and a tiny pour. that always burns me.

Pricey, but eating was excellent. drinking were also great.

The reservations ended up getting quite backed up and the hostess did a great job greeting people and getting them seated as quickly as possible. Our server was awesome and attentive and the drinks and food were delicious.
