This place meant a lot to me. I have been going here for over 15 years whenever we visit our family here in the area. We are from California so we come here only during the summer. I have been bringing my kids since there were little. Now that this place is 21 and over and cash only it is safe to say that it is a massive disappointment. I am truly sad about this.
We stopped going to whiskey hill after they changed there rules to 21 years or older. We would go there about 2 to 3 times a month to order there wings because they were the best but the fact that I had a baby and can't bring her in is insulting. Not going to give business to a place that won't accept my family!!!! We always looked forward to the Halloween decorations and ambiance of this place and my daughter would have loved it.
Just when you think you've walked into a dive bar, you get surprised by a 5 star experience. I'm so sad I don't have a picture because it would be very different than the other pics on here. But, we were starving. They have scaled back on their menu bc of covid, so if you had something in mind, call first. BUT, the abbreviated menu was all we needed! We had the capris pizza. Please don't kill me, but I don't care for the Buffalo style thick, sweet sauce pizza (but don't get me wrong--I eat it). This was wood fired and maybe a combo of Neapolitan/New York? It was crispy but just thicker than Neapolitan. This was a white pizza with pesto. This tasted like everything but the cheese was made in house. The slight drizzle of balsamic was delicate but meaningful. All in all, this was not at all the pizza we expected when we walked into a bar called Whiskey Hill in Lilydale. It was some of the best pizza we've had. We will be back, but also when we just need a drink. The place was adorable, the crowd was friendly, the bar tender was helpful and made an excellent old fashioned.
This may have been a good place once upon a time. Now it sucks. $19 for taco salad that was 90% Romain lettuce. Totally sucked. Romain lettuce was used as a base to prop up a small amount of crappy meat. Can't say enough how sucky it was. I'll never go back.
