And charged 12$ for that. For a small meal with drinks for two people the bill was 48$. Even if the portions were adequate, this place is totally overpriced. Do not trust the local recommendations from the manager of Rio tico Lodge.
The waterfall and gardens are awesome enough but this place also farms tilapia, has cabinas to rent, protects a tree that is over 200 years old, and has a bar/restaurant. I really enjoyed the easy walk around the place. Even petted a few horses and talked to geese.
We ate here because we were staying at Rio Tico next door and there are few dining options near by. This restaurant farm there on fish on site. Meal was OK typical of a Soda simple fish rice and salad. We each had small glass of wine each and the bill came to a staggering 52 USD. we could check the price as they don't have menu's.
An incredibly beautiful location, sustainable agri and aqua culture, and good fruit drinks. My wife and I have been in Ojochal for most of three weeks. We keep coming back to this place. It’s an easy drive, and the farm is amazing. They are custodians fir the third largest tree in Costa Rica. It is magnificent! Their tilapia are sustainably farmed and treated more ethically than any fish farm I’ve ever seen (I’ve seen a few and am a vegan, and I am still impressed). The stream and waterfalls are equally beautiful! The restaurant isn’t vegan friendly, but they make good fruit juices. The Guanabana and Ginger juice is awesome!
Great restaurant in a secluded mountainous area with picturesque waterfalls. Very limited menu but quality and portions more than adequate. I was the lone member of our group who is vegan and simply deleted the fish and had a great lunch.
